The goal of Capture 4 is to get four spaces in a row—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. The center space is a free space that either player can use. A ten-sided die (0-9) is needed to create all possible combinations that add up to ten.
On their turn, a player rolls the die and determines what number, when added to the roll, makes ten. For example, in the image below, the player rolled a 4. Since 4 and 6 make 10, the player claims and marks a space containing a 6. The twist of strategy comes into play as players must decide which space to claim, adding a problem-solving element to the game. Players take turns until one player gets four in a row.
